KYODO NEWS: "Koizumi encourages Soga on eve of departure for Jakarta
TOKYO July 7 Kyodo - Repatriated Japanese abductee Hitomi Soga received words of encouragement from Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi in Tokyo on Wednesday as she prepares to depart for Jakarta on Thursday to be reunited for the first time since 2002 with her American husband and two daughters who live in North Korea.

TOKYO July 7 Kyodo - Japan and the United States agreed Wednesday to continue consultations on the fate of Charles Jenkins, the American husband of repatriated Japanese abdcutee Hitomi Soga, and urging North Korea to scrap its nuclear programs, a Japanese official said.
4 held over 1995 shooting of nat'l police force head
TOKYO July 7 Kyodo - A former police officer, two former senior AUM Shinrikyo cult members and one current follower were arrested Wednesday over the 1995 shooting of then National Police Agency chief Takaji Kunimatsu, police said.
